Home & Haven Designs, Inc. is a full service interior design firm located in Evanston, Illinois. Founded by Jodie Shields, Home & Haven Designs strives to provide personal and customized design services with intelligent design solutions, based on client communication and the marriage of form and function. Jodie has worked on projects including television makeovers for The Today Show and The View, a hotel renovation for the W Hotel in San Diego, new residences starting from scratch, and apartments using only what the client owns. About Jodie Shields

Jodie’s interest in design and environment was cultivated during her study of Art History while at Dartmouth College. She became fascinated with architectural and design solutions throughout history and how they impacted the culture around them. She pursued her degree in interior design at the New York School of Interior Design and was trained at a New York design firm servicing high-end clients, where she specialized in both residential and hospitality design. Jodie often receives inspiration from her art historical background and loves to reinvent classic traditions with a modern twist. But even more importantly, she draws upon her relationship and communication with her clients and what she hears them asking for when creating a design plan. She feels good design can be found at all price-points, and most important is creating a space that intelligently addresses the client’s needs while helping them define and refine their personal style. Jodie considers the client/designer relationship to be at the heart of a positive design experience.Jodie has successfully designed interior spaces throughout the country, some of which have been featured in publications such as The New York Times and Interior Design Magazine.

What is the Interior Design Process? >>

The Interior Design Process

The design process can be broken down into 5 general phases:

1. Consultation: After an initial free consultation, Home & Haven Designs will prepare a contract based on the scope of the project. Upon signing the contract, we help you define your personal style and determine how you want the space to function.

2. Concept Design: Home & Haven Designs will collect resources and ideas and present inspirational photos, sketches, color palettes, and sample furnishings and finishes for your approval.

3. Schematic Design: During this phase, all specific furnishings and finishes are determined, quoted, and ready to be purchased.

4. Implementation & Project Management: All items are ordered and any vendors begin their respective work.

5. Styling & Accessorizing: Once all items have been delivered and installed, we work together to make your space take on the lived in feel by paying attention to all the small details of art and accessories.
